Story of Bali, Indonesia

After several melodies have been played on the Gender Wajang Ramayana, which sits in the far left-hand comer of the dance-ground, away from the entry (as in Gamboth), the aloes (refined) party wafts deviously singing up the ground, led by the yondong; Sita and Lakshmana. Balancing each other, and immediately behind them the supremely noble, graceful form of Rama, magnificently clothed, but seeming to shelter in his magnificence rather than display it.
Sita is infinitely refined. She trails between the folds of her closely wrapped skirt a long train of a contrasting color, perhaps of flame under pale green

She moves with knees turned out and always deeply bent, sweeping about with a continually winding movement, one foot placed exactly before the other, her graceful wrists revolving delicately all the time. Rama moves with equally smooth grace, but with sudden swift crispations of his perfectly poised hands. He is the aloes hero par excellence, and contrasts vividly in style with the intense vibration and whirlwind evolutions of the Boris hero. Both he and Lakshmana are dressed with the traditional splendor of such high personages, in bright richly patterned cloth-of-gold sashes, narrow white trousers, and girt-up draperies which swirl as they walk. The upper body is bare, the hair is worn long.
